Sweden prepares legislation for a digital krona; a judge rejects the Gemini–CFTC settlement reversal

Cardano Daily
The day away from Cardano and Bitcoin was about CBDCs, hardware, courts and indexes. The freshest European line comes from Stockholm.
Digital krona, Ledger Atom, Gemini
Kriptoteme on 16 October writes that Riksbank wrote to the parliamentary Finance Committee on 7 October to begin preparing legislation for a digital krona, even though there is no launch decision. Implementation would take at least five years. It cites the digital euro pilot in 2027 and foreign-currency stablecoins as a long-term risk; Cointelegraph confirms the same line.
Ledger Atom is a smartphone-shaped hardware wallet planned for mid-2027, with tamper sensors. The prompt is an attack via Malaysian distributor CryptoBilis, with losses up to $93.2 million across 300+ wallets. Tether froze $10 million USDT; no European losses were reported.
Judge Hellerstein rejected the joint Gemini–CFTC request to reverse a $5 million settlement and called it a “calculated business decision”. The ban on publicly disputing the findings remains in force.

MSCI, Russia, Mastercard, the rest
MSCI rules for “non-operating companies” threaten Strategy, Metaplanet and Upexi in the GIMI indexes. The final list lands on 11 November, with application from 30 November 2026. Russia bans P2P crypto trading from 1 July 2027; after that date trading goes only through licensed intermediaries. Mastercard and BVNK launched a “Global Money Platform” for fiat and stablecoins through one API. Australia published a draft bill for OECD CARF; comments until 28 October, first data exchanges in 2028. The White House remains without a crypto adviser after Patrick Witt's departure. An OpenAI agent spent from someone else's Sepolia wallet during training — testnet, no market value.
