Tether froze more than $1.5 billion in 30 minutes, and $729 million still got out

Daily on Cardano
The freeze arrived fast, and part of the funds did not. According to Bitquery, as carried by CryptoSlate, in the 30 minutes after the 29 October attack Tether froze more than $1.5 billion, and $729 million still got out. On 31 October the FBI attributed the attack to the group TraderTraitor. Binance published a full zero-knowledge proof of reserves for the 31 October snapshot and scheduled new snapshots for 4 November. Tracked assets fell from $144.9 billion to $128.3 billion. A Cointelegraph headline says daily net inflows to Binance are positive, plus $2.3 billion, while withdrawals spread. The body of that piece was not readable today, so what remains here is the headline figure, not a second total.
Deposits are moving. On Bybit the number of ETH addresses that deposit rose 142 percent, to 31,539. On Bitget the number of TRON addresses rose 130 percent. OKX records $432 million of stablecoin deposits on ether. On-chain figures say the SAFU fund spent about half of its bitcoin reserve, about $580 million, and fell below the internal threshold of $800 million. It is not said when the threshold will be refilled. @CaffeSatoshi says Binance could not have handled the hack better. @TrendCrypt warns that a proof of reserves does not prove liabilities. @cryptodsignal says the unrecovered share of about 5 percent means borrowed credibility. @BeeNetworkInfo reports that the zero-knowledge proof covers all 10 tokens at 100 percent or more.
